Korea-US Professional Engineer Association Bylaws
Article 1 Name
1.1 The name of this organization shall be the Korea-US Professional Engineer Association
1.2 Its acronym KUPEA may be used as a short name.
Article 2 Purpose
2.1 KUPEA (Korean-American Professional Engineers Association) forms a strong bond among Professional Engineers from various engineering fields in Korea and the United States to support each other's careers through a Korean Network.
2.2 KUPEA promotes the advancement of engineering and science in both countries by sharing knowledge across industries among Professional Engineers from various engineering fields in Korea and the United States.
Article 3 Non-Profit Status
3.1 KUPEA is a Non-Profit Corporation under the Non-Profit Corporation Law of Texas.
3.2 No part of the net earnings of KUPEA shall inure to the benefit of, or be distributable to its members, officers, or other private persons, except that KUPEA shall be authorized and empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered and to make payments and distributions in furtherance of the purposes set forth in Article 2 hereof.
Article 4 Membership
4.1 KUPEA may have PE members, Regular members, Lead members, and Student members.
4.2 A person may become a member after the Executive Committee of KUPEA has examined the application and approved the membership.
4.3 The Executive Committee of KUPEA may determine the membership category of new members, based on the rules described in the rest of this Article.
4.4 Any persons who can speak Korean and have Professional engineer license in Korea or the Professional Engineer license in the United States can become a PE member by paying a membership fee of $30.
4.5 Any persons who can speak Korean and work as an engineer title can become a Regular member by paying a membership fee of $50.
4.6 A person who is either a PE member or a regular member and gives a presentation at least once at the previous year's KUPEA conference can become a Lead member.
4.7 A person who is either a PE member or a regular member and donates more than $100 to KUPEA in the previous year can become a Lead member.
4.8 Lead members are reorganized every year on January based on the presentation record and donation status from the previous year.
4.9 Any persons who can speak Korean can become a student member by paying a membership fee of $50.
Article 5 Member Activities
5.1 All members must pay the membership fee.
5.2 All members are expected to attend all activities of KUPEA, where all members are invited to attend. This means the online conference, and other KUPEA events.
5.3 The online conferences are held every month through a video conferencing system.
5.4 At the online conference, any KUPEA member can volunteer to make a presentation, or external individuals can also be invited to present.
5.5 The presenter will be paid a certain honorarium.

9.1 This bylaw may be amended and/or revised at any time in the future after getting approval by the two-thirds of the lead members at the General Member Meeting.
